The Kogelberg. We offer 5 amazing Kogelberg guided day hikes, and 2 overnight trails – guided or unguided. The Kogelberg Biosphere encompasses the entire coastal area from Gordon’s Bay to the Bot River vlei, and inland to Grabouw and the Groenland Mountain. Kogelberg is just an hour’s drive from Cape Town the area is famous for its floral wealth. The 100 000 ha Nature Reserve boasts in excess of 1800 plant species. Many spectacular members of the Protea family, including the Marsh Rose occur here in Kogelberg. The Kogelberg biosphere has 3 patches of relic indigenous forest, Louwsbos, Platbos and Oudebos.
Similar to the Knysna forests, the Kogelberg they include yellowwood, stinkwood and boekenhout trees. In addition to the diverse plant species one has a good chance of spotting klipspringers, Cape grysbok and porcupines and the elusive Cape leopard. Cape leopard The Palmiet River and its associated vegetation is the most pristine in the south-western Cape. Wild almond, rooi-els, yellowwood and cape beech are among the trees occurring in the riverine scrub. Kogelberg is a UNESCO World Heritage site now boasts stunning eco cottages that can be hired for overnight trails. Guided hikes or walks offer so much more: Ralph and Gill live in Hermanus so they have local knowledge and they are registered FGASA and Tourist guides with a wealth of knowledge to make the most of your hike or walk. A world renown garden showcasing 4 vegetation types and home to over 60 bird species as well as other wildlife such as porcupine, genet, mongoose, otter, and dassies (hyrax).
Stoney Point Penguin Colony
One of the few breeding grounds of the African (Jackass) penguins, set alongside the ruins of the old whaling station. Best time to visit is late afternoon.

Please Note: Kogleberg hikes may be subject to additional transport charges - the hiking office at Kogelberg Reserve is a 80 Km round-trip from Hermanus. The cost will be calculated for the applicable hike date.
Additional cost for entrance fees per person
Our 2 to 3 hour hike or walk is R 500.00 per person minimum 2 people there is a charge of R 250.00 per additional person.
Half day or part thereof, includes tea, coffee and muffins. R 700.00 per person minimum 2 people. There is a charge of R 350.00 per additional person.
Exceeding 5 hours include tea or coffee and muffins in the morning and a packed lunch with fruit juice for lunch; please contact us for a quote.
